Three straight weeks of picking some GOOD losers. Last weeks 11-3 record makes it 33-7 over the last three weeks with an overall record of 90-55 on the season, This Sports Mind just hopes that what I witnessed from MY Dallas Cowboys last week is NOT an indication of what the next 5-weeks will be without the services of RB, Ezekiel Elliott.
Also I hope the my win streak continues as the picture becomes more and more clear who the playoff teams are and the LOSERS begin to stick out even more. The Cleveland browns became the front runner in the draft derby after the San Francisco 49ers won their 1st game of the season last week over the NY Giants. Lets check out this weeks LOSERS….
Thursday, November 16th
SO It’s
Pittsburgh QB’s,
Big Ben Roethlisberger vs
Tennessee QB,
Marcus Mariota. Experience
vs youth, The Titans at 6-3, have won their last 4-games, including last weeks game over the Bengals 24-20, they are currently tied for first place atop the AFC South with the Jaguars. The Steelers have also won their last 4-games and 5 of their last 6, they squeaked by the Colts last week 20-17. when you look at both teams losses, the only REAL blemish (as far as teams they definitely should have beat) on the Steelers schedule was their loss to the Bears six weeks ago. The Titans losses were to the Raiders, Texans and Dolphins and two were by double digits, on the road. Bottom line they should have beaten all three of these teams.
Larry’s Loser: Tennessee.
Sunday, November 19th
Act I for MY Cowboys without star RB,
Ezekiel Elliott did not go good at ALL.
Dallas had won 3-straight games before losing to the Falcons last week 27-7. Perhaps what the Cowboys missed even more was LT,
Tyron Smith who missed the game with a bad back. The Cowboys QB,
Dak Prescott was harassed all day to the tune of 8-sacks. It won’t get any easier this weekend for the Cowboys as
Philadelphia visits AT&T Stadium. Last week the Eagles had their bye week but they are in the midst of a 7-game win streak. 2nd yr. QB,
Carson Wentz has been on fire this season with 1,929 passing yds. for 21 TD’s and 4 Ints. for a 108.0 Rating. This will be a battle of two great 2nd year QB’s in Prescott and Wentz. If the Eagles win they are all but assured of the Eastern Division Title, If the Cowboys lose it could be a tough haul just to make the playoffs.
Larry’s Loser: Philadelphia.
Detroit QB,
Matthew Stafford looked
great helping the Lions get their 2nd straight win last week, beating the Browns 38-24. One thing you have to look at though, four of the Lions five wins have been against teams with losing records while their four losses were against teams with winning records. Maybe thats the clue to the LOSER of this weeks game since
Chicago has a LOSING record. The Bears have lost 3 of their last 5 games including last week to the
Aaron Rodgers-less Packers 23-16. The Lions are 3-1 on the road while Chicago is 2-3 at home. That could be another clue.
Larry’ Loser: Chicago.
6-3 Jacksonville has won their last 3-games and if they can win three more they will have it locked up. NO I’m not talking about the division or a playoff spot, I’m talking about a winning record something they haven’t accomplished since 2007. They have won 4 of their last 5-games, they beat the Chargers last week 20-17. What can you say about
Cleveland? Only one question comes to mind, when are they FINALLY going to get their first win? Too bad they don’t have the Giants on their schedule, but I guess that depends on if they want to win the draft derby. The Browns lost last week YET AGAIN to the Lions 38-24. This game should be an easy one to pick and besides the Browns haven’t let me down yet, BUT you just NEVER know.
Larry’s Loser: Cleveland.
This game could have had the makings of a good one at one time.
Baltimore has pretty much played themselves out of the playoff picture, but they can be considered a legit spoiler. The Ravens have lost 3 of their last 4 and 5 of their last 7 games, they had their bye week last weekend and lost their last game to the Titans 23-20. One bright spot for the Ravens, they should get RB,
Danny Woodhead back in the lineup this week.
Green Bay is fighting for their playoff life, at 5-4 they managed to get a MUST win last week against the Bears 23-16, they had lost 3-straight before that. This game could go either way, but the QB could be the difference maker in this game.
Larry’s Loser: Green Bay.
Just when you thought
Tampa Bay was a dead ship in the water, they up and win a game. They had lost 5-games in a row before beating the Jets last week 15-10. This is a makeup game between the Buccaneers and 4-4
Miami another team that like the Bucks have played their way out of the playoffs. they were humiliated on Monday night by the Panthers 45-21, the loss marks their 3rd in a row. This game is a complete toss up, The Bucs. however are 0-4 on the road and Miami is .500 at home (2-2), so one would have to think the Dolphins would have the advantage here, the question is do they know how to capitalize?
Larry’s Loser: Tampa Bay.
Now this should be a GREAT game. The
LA Rams and QB,
Jared Goff have surprised everyone this season, they have won 6 of their last 7 games including their last four. They destroyed the hobbled Texans last week 33-7 and it appears the way the Rams are playing, they could be on a collision course with the red hot Eagles for the NFC title.
Minnesota has been no slouch by any stretch, They have won 6 of their last 7 games including their last five after beating the Redskins last week 38-30. The Vikings main issue is at QB.
Teddy Bridgewater was reactivated but its still uncertain when he will be able to play after missing 1-1/2 seasons and often injured,
Sam Bradford was placed on IR and is done for the season.
Case Keenum has done a decent job filling in but the Rams won’t be an easy out, what even makes it tougher, the Rams are 4-0 on the road while Minnesota is 4-1 at home. WHAT do you do?
Larry’s Loser: Minnesota.
Looking at the NFC East, it’s hard to picture 4-5
Washington making the playoffs especially when they can’t beat the good teams. They have lost 3 of their last 4 games including last weeks game against the Vikings 38-30. Other than perhaps the Eagles, no other team in the NFC is hotter than
New Orleans. After starting the season 0-2, the Saints have now reeled off seven straight wins, they completely manhandled the Bills last week, embarrassing them in front of their home crowd 47-10. Saints QB,
Drew Brees is completing 71.7% of his passes with a 104.0 qbr this season and it’s HARD to argue with that, not to mention that New Orleans is 3-1 at home and have won their last 3 there.
Larry’s Loser: Washington.
Kansas City was considered the hottest team in the NFL after they started the season 5-0, since then they have lost 3 of their last 4-games. The Chiefs had their bye week last week but they lost their last game to the Cowboys 28-17, so they have to be CHOMPING at the bit to get back on the field and make amends. Well they shouldn’t have much trouble getting back on the winning track this week since they are playing the 1-8
NY Giants, but even if they do get the win it don’t mean they are back to early season form. The Giants have been horrible this year and theres even rumors that players have gave up on their coach,
Ben McAdoo. I GOT to say this on that subject, those players that proclaim to be quitters, you CAN’T blame your LACK of desire to win OR your LACK of being a professional on the coach, when you are getting PAID to do so. This is NOT on the coach this is a YOU problem. If you REALLY love the game and the thrill of competing you would NEVER quit on YOUR team. With that said.
Larry’s Loser: New York.
This game is a complete toss up, but you do have a very competent QB, in
Carson Palmer for
Arizona. The Cardinals are still on their roller coaster ride, losing/winning every other game this season. They lost their game last week to the Seahawks 22-16.
Houston is still reeling from the loss of their future franchise QB,
DeShaun Watson. Since Watson’s absence the Texans have lost their last 2-games and they have lost 4 of their last 5. They got PASTED by the Rams last week 33-7. Also even though they are without the services of their star DE,
JJ Watt many feel their defense is good enough to win this game, But if the Cardinals trend continues they are due to win plus you got to go with Palmer over the Texan’s backup QB,
Tom Savage. Arizona is 2-3 on the road while the Texans are 2-3 at home, GO figure.
Larry’s Loser: Houston.
Buffalo was humiliated at home last week by the Saints 47-10, they took the loss so bad they even benched starting QB,
Tyrod Taylor, but last I checked, especially after this
Sports Mind watched the game, I’d have to say it definitely was Taylor’s fault that the defense yielded 47 pts. (NOT). Why didn’t they just bench the defense since 90% of the loss was on them? However the Bills have lost their last 2-games so lets see how many more they have to lose before Taylor’s back in there. The
LA Chargers have lost their last 2-games, including last weeks game against the Jaguars 20-17. If you look at their three wins they were all against teams with losing records. They are 1-3 at home but the Bills are 1-3 on the road. Buffalo will start unproven QB,
Nathan Peterman in Taylor’s place, this could be interesting.
Larry’s Loser: Buffalo.
Here you have two teams that are both headed in the same direction, DOWN. Both teams are 3-6,
Cincinnati has lost 3 of their last 4 games including their last two. They lost last week to the Titans 24-20. Their offense is anemic at times and their defense gives up an avg. of 21.7 ppg.
Denver is suffering from a bad case of the QB blues since they have none to speak of. They still have a great defense but its not enough to offset the offense which has a PUNY scoring avg. of 13.6 ppg. over their last 5-games. The Broncos have lost their last 5-games and 6 of their last 7. With the loud crowd they always have had at Mile High stadium perhaps they can help push the Broncos to a win. Here again though you just about have to go with the best QB and in this case Bengal QB,
Andy Dalton actually wins one.
Larry’s Loser: Denver.
Atlanta may have got themselves back on track in their 27-7 win over the Cowboys last week. They had lost 4 of their last 5 prior to last weeks win. They will have yet another big test against a banged up
Seattle team who will be without the services of injured CB,
Richard Sherman. Sherman tore his
Achilles in last weeks 22-16 win over the Cardinals and is gone for the season. This games pits two great QB’s in the Falcons
Matt Ryan and the Seahawks
Russell Wilson. The Falcons are 3-2 on the road while Seattle is 3-1 at home. IF Atlanta can capitalize on the Seahawks O-line the way they did against the Cowboys, they shouldn’t have any trouble winning this game, however IF is a mighty BIG word for two letters.
Larry’s Loser: Seattle.
