Larry’s Losers Week 9

by Larry Leek

Larry's Losers

What a NICE recovery last weekend after two HORRID weeks. If the Dolphins had been able to defeat the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night my record would have been a perfect 13-0, But I’ll take a 12-1 record anytime. The overall season record improves to 69-49 and it really needed some improvement.

Hopefully things have stabilized a bit and the games can become more predictable the rest of the season, YEA RIGHT. You got to remember this is the NFL where upsets NEVER cease.

Lets check out this weeks (Hopefully) LOSERS:

Thursday, November 2nd

8:25 PM ET NFL

(5-2, 1-2 Away)

(3-5, 2-2 Home)

MetLife Stadium
East Rutherford, NJ
69° F
The 5-2 Bills hit the road to play the 3-5 Jets. Buffalo looks to be getting better with each week. They have won 4 of their last 5 games including last week, pasting Oakland 34-14. Their defense ranks 2nd in rushing, but their passing ranks 24th, so the Jets will need to take to the air if they hope to win, the Jets offense ranks 15th in passing yds. and 19th in rushing. They have lost their last 3 games, losing last week to Atlanta 25-20, so it could be a LONG night for New York.
Larry’s Loser: New York.

Sunday, November 5th

4:25 PM ET CBS

(6-2, 3-1 Away)

(4-3, 1-2 Home)

AT&T Stadium
Arlington, TX
Well it looks more and more like MY Cowboys will have to go without the services of RB, Ezekiel Elliot for the next 6-games and it was supposed to start this Sunday which couldn’t have been a worst time, but now Zeke has been granted a temporary stay and will be able to play. The Cowboys rank #2 in rushing yds and the Cowboys have won their last 2-games including last week against Washington 33-19. They face Kansas City this Sunday, the Chiefs finally got back on the winning track last week defeating the Broncos 29-19 Monday night. One BIG factor, the Chiefs are 3-1 on the road while Dallas is 1-2 at home, but lets go out on a limb on this one.
Larry’s Loser: Kansas City.
1:00 PM ET CBS

(4-4, 2-2 Away)

(4-3, 2-1 Home)

Nissan Stadium
Nashville, TN
The 4-4 Ravens fresh off spoiling my perfect week after smashing the Dolphins 40-0 last Thursday night head to Tennessee to take on the 4-3 Titans, Even though the Ravens did win last week, they have lost 4 of their last 6-games. Tennessee has won their last 2-games, if you want to call Indianapolis and Cleveland, legitimate wins you can, but this Sports Mind has a hard time with that. The Titans squeaked by Cleveland last Sunday 12-9. This game is a complete toss up, but Tennessee SHOULD be able to win this one.
Larry’s Loser: Baltimore.
1:00 PM ET FOX

(2-5, 0-3 Away)

(5-2, 2-1 Home)

Mercedes-Benz Superdome
New Orleans, LA
2-5 Tampa Bay was thought to have a bright future after last season, now everything’s in the dark.  Bottom line the Bucs have lost 5 of their last 6 and the only way they can go is up, They were beat at home last week by Carolina 17-3. Second year QB, Jameis Winston has definitely struggled this season, thus far has an 88.3% passer rating with 10-TD’s and 6-Ints. A completely opposite story, the Saints. New Orleans has won their last 5-games, they beat Chicago last Sunday 20-12, QB, Drew Brees has a 101.7 passer rating with 11-Td’s and 4-Ints. Unless someone steps up for the Bucs. you got to go with the quarterback in this one.
Larry’s Loser: Tampa Bay.
1:00 PM ET FOX

(5-2, 3-0 Away)

(1-6, 0-3 Home)

MetLife Stadium
East Rutherford, NJ
The Rams are coming off their bye week, however they are chomping at the bit to get back out on the field and hopefully continue their winning ways. The Rams have won 4 of their last 5, they beat Arizona soundly 2-weeks ago 33-0, now the question is can they beat the 1-6 Giants who are also 0-3 at home? New York can’t seem to put it all together, weeks when they have played close and the offense was able to put up a decent point total, their defense couldn’t get it done and when the offense has been off the defense has been even worse, they lost their last game to the Seahawks 24-7. So maybe having last week off will help, NOT.
Larry’s Loser: New York.
1:00 PM ET CBS

(3-4, 0-3 Away)

(7-1, 4-0 Home)

Lincoln Financial Field
Philadelphia, PA
The Broncos started the season looking like they were ready to make a Super Bowl run after waxing the Cowboys in their opener. After starting the season 3-1, they have now lost their last 3-games and 4 of their last 5, including last week to Kansas City 29-10. The Broncos have decided to bench starting QB, Trevor Siemian in favor of Brock Osweiler. Whoever gets the start they will have their hands full with the Eagles defensive line. 7-1 Philadelphia continues to look almost unbeatable, now winners of their last 6-straight, they beat winless San Francisco last Sunday 33-10. If they can defeat Denver and the Cowboys should lose to the Chiefs, the Eagles should have the division locked up as they will have a 4-game lead. Also Philly is 4-0 at home while the Broncos are 0-3 on the road.
Larry’s Loser: Denver.
1:00 PM ET FOX

(4-3, 3-1 Away)

(5-3, 1-2 Home)

Bank of America Stadium
Charlotte, NC
Talk about a disappointment, the Falcons go from SB runner up to losing 3 of their last 4. On a good note they started out the season 3-0, before losing 3-straight, last week they managed to beat the Jets 25-20 so maybe thats the start of another 3-games win streak.  If they could get RB, Devonta Freeman more involved it would surely help matters, but they may not have too much success on the ground this week since the Panther run defense ranks 5th in the NFL. Even though Carolina has a 5-3 record, it hasn’t been pretty for the Panthers. They have some pretty nice wins on their resume even though you can’t consider last weeks 17-3 win over the Buccaneers one of those. But they have lost 2 of their last 3-games, so they are kind of unpredictable as far as which team will show up.
Larry’s Loser: Carolina.
1:00 PM ET CBS

(3-4, 1-2 Away)

(4-3, 1-2 Home)

EverBank Field
Jacksonville, FL
Cincinnati has played better as of late winning 3 of their last 4, but if you look close 2 of those 3 wins were against the winless Browns and Indianapolis last week 24-23. To make matters worse they are 1-2 on the road and to make matters better Jacksonville is 1-2 at home. The Jaguars had their bye last week but they also won their last game against the Colts 27-0. If you look at Jacksonville’s games played thus far, they have won/lost every other game this season, so IF that trend continues the Bengals will win this one right?
Larry’s Loser: Cincinnati.
1:00 PM ET CBS

(2-6, 0-4 Away)

(3-4, 2-2 Home)

NRG Stadium
Houston, TX
The Colts announced on Thursday that QB, Andrew Luck will miss the rest of the season because his surgically repaired Rt. shoulder is still bothering him, he was placed on IR so it just couldn’t get any worse. The Colts will stick with 2nd year QB, Jacoby Brissett as the starter. Indy has lost their last 3-games including last week against the Bengals 24-23, they have also lost 4 of their last 5 games. Just when the Colts are feeling it couldn’t get any worse it got WAY worse for the Texans. They lost their franchise QB, rookie DeShaun Watson for the season on Thursday when he tore the ACL in his knee. First WOYSM wishes DeShaun a speedy recovery and we sincerely regret what this young man is going through. Watson was looking GREAT before his injury, probably headed for rookie of the year. QB, Tom Savage will get the start in Watson’s place. Indy is winless on the road and Houston is another team that has won/lost every other game this season, they lost last week to the Seahawks 41-38, so IF their trend continues they should win this week RIGHT?
Larry’s Loser: Houston.
4:05 PM ET FOX

(3-4, 1-3 Away)

(0-8, 0-3 Home)

Levi’s Stadium
Santa Clara, CA
Two struggling teams, the Cardinals had their bye week last week. they are another team thats won/lost every other game they have played this season, getting blanked 2-weeks ago by the Rams 33-0. So IF they can continue their trend they should win this weekend RIGHT? One thing that could definitely help Arizona keep their trend in tact, is the fact that they are playing the 0-8 49ers who lost to the Eagles last week 33-10. Enter the Jimmy Garoppolo era for San Francisco, Garoppolo was traded to the 49ers this week from the Patriots. Perhaps now that they have their QB the niners can finally get a win, but don’t get your hopes up too high this weekend because Garoppolo is not expected to start.
Larry’s Loser: San Francisco.

(3-4, 1-2 Away)

(5-2, 3-0 Home)

CenturyLink Field
Seattle, WA
Out of the Redskins last 4-games, three of the teams they have played against are all playoff contenders, Kansas City, Philadelphia and last week Dallas, the Redskins lost all 3-games, losing 33-19 to the Cowboys. they won the 4th game however against the winless 49ers two weeks ago definitely NOTHING to brag about. This week they play at Seattle and yes you can also consider the Seahawks a playoff contender. The Hawks have won their last 4-games and 5 of their last 6, they beat the Texans last week in a shoot out 41-38. The Redskins are 1-2 on the road, while Seattle is 3-0 at home, will they make it 4-0?
Larry’s Loser: Washington.
8:30 PM ET NBC

(3-5, 1-3 Away)

(4-3, 2-1 Home)

Hard Rock Stadium
Miami, FL
Talk about a you pick em, this is the game. No one has a clue which team will show up from one week to the next for either of these two teams. Oakland, losers of 5 out of their last 6, dropped their game last week to Buffalo 34-14. All indications before the season started pointed to the Raiders making the playoffs, all indications now points them to the draft derby. The same goes for Miami who actually made the post season last year and even though their record is 4-3, it’s NOT looking good. The Dolphins had won 3 of their last 4, they were BLOWN out last week by the Ravens 40-0. They are 2-1 at home while the Raiders are 1-3 on the road. As far as who I think will lose this game, the Dolphins disappointed this ole Sports Mind last week by costing me my perfect 13-0 record.
Larry’s Loser: Miami.

Monday, November 6th

(3-4, 2-1 Away)

(4-3, 3-1 Home)

Lambeau Field
Green Bay, WI
3-4 Detroit is looking to get back to .500 this weekend, they have lost 4 of their last 5 games including last week to the Steelers 20-15. They had a VERY tough 5-game stretch and did not fare well at all. You have to feel sorry for the Packers who are playing without their star QB, Aaron Rogerslost for the season with a broken right clavicle. Before Rogers was hurt Green Bay was 4-1, since his injury they are 0-2. QB, Brett Hundley took over for the injured Rogers. The Packers lost last week to New Orleans 26-17. The Lions should be favored in this game since they do have the better QB.
Larry’s Loser: Green bay.
