College Football Week 7
Week #7, so far looks to be possibly the BEST week thus far this season with a terrific line up. So I guess you can call this Lucky Week 7. Even though not many games pit top 25 teams against each other, there are quite a few games between ranked teams and teams recently ranked looking to get back in the polls. So it’s the has vs the has not and the once had vs the once had.
One game that could turn out to be a gem, the #11 TCU Horned Frogs at the Kansas St. Wildcats. The Horned Frogs should be able to come away with the win, however the Wildcats are hungry and in this case some frog legs will do. With losses to the Vanderbilt Commodores and the Texas Longhorns all this Sports Mind can say is Wildcat fans don’t get your hopes TOO high.
In a game between two teams where one is trying to crack the top 25 and another who was recently booted, the Texas Tech Red Raiders at the W. Virginia Mountaineers. The red Raiders were close to making the top 25 before their loss 2-weeks ago to the #18 Oklahoma St. Cowboys. Last week they were able to get some redemption by defeating the Kansas Jayhawks 65-19 but WHO are the Jayhawks (This ain’t Basketball). The Mountaineers were in the poll for a few weeks before losing to TCU 31-24 two weeks ago. This should be a very good game so add to your weekend schedule.
The #10 Auburn Tigers travel to Baton Rouge to take on an LSU Tiger team that has greatly underachieved thus far this season. Since Auburn lost their 2nd game of the season to the Clemson Tigers they have reeled off four straight wins and even though none of them were victories against anyone currently in the top 25, three of the four wins were against SEC teams, even though the SEC does not seem to be as deep as years past. LSU started the season in the top 10 before losing 2 of their last 4 games, including a gut wrenching loss to the Troy Trojans. They did get a big win last weekend against the Florida Gators who were in the top 25 at the time, so maybe it will be a confidence booster for the Bengal Tigers which could provide the makings for a GOOD football game.
The Texas A&M Aggies and Florida Gators were both in the top 25 at one time and now both find themselves on the outside wanting back in. It’s not likely the team that wins this saturday will make it back in after this game but, you gotta start somewhere. The Aggies were booted after their loss Last weekend to the Alabama Crimson Tide, while the Gators dropped out after last Saturday’s loss to LSU. Between these two teams you would have to say that perhaps since the Aggies, who were ranked #25 at the time and played the Tide close in a 27-19 loss possibly have the best chance of returning to the top 25 and winning this game but, the Gators will have plenty to say about that. As desperate as both teams are, here goes another great game to mark on your schedule.
Alas we finally have a game between two top 25 teams. the #24 Utah Utes are on the bubble and everyone knows what their fate will be IF they fall to the #15 USC Trojans on Saturday. The Utes are trying to avoid a 2nd straight loss after losing last week to the Stanford Cardinal 23-20, a team the trojans have already defeated this season 42-24. The Trojans loss came at the hands of the #13 Washington St. Cougars two weeks ago 30-27. Here you have another nice game that could end up a nail biter, so get ready for yet another GREAT college football game.
There are quite a few other intriguing games on tap for Saturday, have a look at this weekend’s schedule below and pick out your favorites to go along with the ones above.
