WOYSM Preseason College Top 25
With the start of the 2017 College Football season less than two months away It’s time for the WOYSM Preseason College Top 25. Mark Saturday, August 26th on your calendar, because thats when it all begins and even though there are no BIG games scheduled that day, when you’ve gone nearly seven months without football every game is BIG.
When last season ended we saw the Alabama Crimson Tide dethroned as National Champs by The same team they had beaten the season before, The Clemson Tigers. After Alabama defeated Clemson for the title two seasons ago it was pretty much a give me that the two teams weren’t finished with each other. Now the BIG question, Will there be a 3rd matchup between the two schools in the Championship or will there be two new teams representing the college football world when all is said and done?
That question won’t be answered for sometime, but when you look at key losses at key skill positions like for example, Clemson’s great QB, Deshaun Watson, now in the NFL, you have to look at their replacements and then ask “Will they be good enough”?
For teams like Alabama and Clemson, you only have to look as far as the head coach. Alabama head coach Nick Saban & the Tigers Dabo Swinney will somehow manage to have their teams hovering around the top 4 playoff spots come season’s end, count on it.
Other teams that are due immediate consideration when you think of their head coach are of course the Ohio State Buckeyes (Urban Meyer), Michigan Wolverines (Jim Harbaugh) and the Florida State Seminoles (Jimbo Fisher). Even though the Seminoles struggled last season they should be improved for the 2017 campaign.
Other questions concerning head coaches abound for the upcoming college football season. How well will the LSU Tigers fare under new head coach Ed Orgeron? Can new Texas Longhorn head coach Tom Herman bring the Longhorns back to the top of the college football world? Will 2nd year Miami Hurricane head coach Mark Richt get the Canes back to the top? What will happen to the Oklahoma Sooners after losing head coach Bob Stoops to sudden retirement?
All in all it should turn out to be a VERY exciting and interesting 2017 college football season and with that thought in mind, let’s NOT keep you in suspense any longer…
