WOYSM College Football Top 25 (Final Ranking)
The Playoff Bracket is set, the season has come and gone as WOYSM releases it’s final College Top 25 Teams. The conference championships yielded NO surprises and the playoff committee couldn’t have been any happier….
Other than #6 Iowa slipping from their bracket and sliding in #3 Michigan St. after the Spartans narrowly defeated the Hawkeyes 16-13 in the Big Ten championship. It was a breeze for the playoff committee in the final week of regular season play.
The other conference championships saw #1 Alabama defeat #19 Florida to NO ones surprise for the SEC title 29-15. #2 Clemson won the ACC title beating #16 N. Carolina 45-37. #5 Stanford who missed the playoffs by one slot beat unranked USC 41-22 to win the Pac 12 championship as the conference was completely shut out of the playoffs. #18 Houston won the American Athletic championship by defeating unranked Temple 24-13.
#4 Oklahoma slid into the playoffs unscathed without having to play in a conference championship since the Big 12 does not have one. Where is the fairness in that?
This Is Whats On My Sports Mind about this subject:
Another college football season has come and gone, seems like yesterday the teams were all getting ready to kick off the season and all too quickly it’s over with of course the meat and potatoes still left to come, but most of the main course is already gone.
Thats the thing about football in general, The season is so short it ALWAYS leaves you wanting more and of course thats one of the major reason’s for it’s overwhelming success year in year out. In baseball & basketball the seasons are SO long it’s like “Whew, Finally the season is over at last.” But with football its like “WHAT!!!! The season’s over, ALREADY?” Sounds almost like they planned it that way 😉
First, I got to say this years final four looks really good compared to last years and My Sports Mind believes that anyone of the four could wind up the National Champion, But for now I will have to go with the Crimson Tide to win it all. Should they fail to pull it off I would have to go with Michigan St.
I do have one complaint however. My Sports Mind thinks that in order for a team and/or conference to be qualified for a playoff spot, I feel that conference MUST have a conference championship game if for no other reason than to have all playoff teams having played the same amount of regular season games, when you consider that even one game injury wise can make a HUGE difference.
Even though the AP has Clemson ranked #1, My Sports mind does not feel they have shown that they are worthy of the top spot in the country despite the fact that they are the only undefeated team left, especially when you look at their last regular season game against arch rival South Carolina, who ended up the worst team in the SEC and the fact that they only beat the Gamecocks by 5 pts. in the 37-32 win and also the fact that their defense yielded 32 pts. to the Gamecocks as well.
As far as WOYSM’s Final College Top 25, The Big-10 still leads all conferences with the most representatives (5) in the WOYSM Top 25 and the breakdown of teams per conference representing the College Top 25 Poll are as follows: Big 10=5, Pac 12=4, Big 12=4, SEC=4, ACC=3, American Athletic=2, MAC=1, Conference USA=1, Independents=1.
