Ranked Teams To Put It On The Line….
This weeks in college football there are numerous games where ranked teams are pitted against one another and probably the biggest will be games over in the SEC where the winners will move up and the losers will probably fall out of contention for one of the four playoff spots. Over in the SEC #6 LSU takes on #16 Florida and #7 Alabama travels to College Station to take on the #10 Texas A&M Aggies.
Other interesting games involving SEC teams has the Ole Miss Rebels traveling to Memphis to take on the unbeaten Tigers, Memphis is ranked 25th in the WOYSM Top 25 .
Also the South Carolina Gamecocks will try to get their first SEC win against Vanderbilt, but most notably without Head Coach, Steve Spurrier, who retired last week shocking everyone in the college football world after the Gamecocks started out the season 2-4 (0-4, SEC) losing 4 of their last 5 games.
Over in the Big 10, The #1 Ranked Michigan St. Spartans travel to Ann Arbor, MI to take on #21 Michigan and #15 Iowa is at #18 Northwestern.
Some interesting games involving ranked teams against unranked foes, #9 Notre Dame will be at USC for the Trojan’s first game without former Head Coach, Steve Sarkisian, fired last week, after showing up for team functions and also a University faculty meeting intoxicated which was enough for Trojan AD, Pat Haden to fire Sarkisian.
Ironically both USC’s (Southern Cal. and South Carolina) lost their coach’s the same day (though for reasons EONS apart) and both were name Steve.
Also #12 Utah will try to remain unbeaten when they host Arizona St. a team that has been up & down with wins over #20 UCLA and unranked Colorado while losing to #10 Texas A&M and USC.
#4 Baylor will have a test against W. Virginia considering the Bears lackluster schedule thus far the Mountaineers could prove to be a worthy opponent.
This Is Whats On My Sports Mind about this subject:
There’s definitely going to be some important games this weekend with playoff implications involved, The SEC will have two teams minimum dropping out of contention, as will the Big 10 and My Sports Mind tells me others could fall to teams not in the WOYSM Top 25 but ehh… we shall see.
It is also possible we could have a new #1 come Sunday in the WOYSM Top 25, If #21 Michigan is up to the task My Sports Mind tells me they will have to wait a year. I don’t think the Wolverines are quite ready to take that next step just yet, but My Sports Mind can see that they are making strides quickly.
#4 Baylor could get a tough test from W. Virginia , however even though the Mountaineers are 3-2 (0-2, Big 12), both of their two losses have come from the state of Oklahoma, losing to #13 Oklahoma St. and #17 Oklahoma.
My Sports Mind tells me come Sunday you can still look for the Bears somewhere in the WOYSM Top 4.
One word about My Gamecocks (well maybe a few words), I’m going to miss Coach Spurrier roaming the sidelines looking for a reason to get in a patented throwing of the visor and the pokes he famously made towards other head coaches and I want to thank him personally for all that he did for South Carolina during his tenure there. His accomplishments will never be forgotten by Gamecock fans and I hope that we can say it was his last stop along the legends coaching road, because My Sports Mind believes that he has coached his best games and they are all behind him.
Who ever ends up as the Gamecocks head coach, I wish them all the best and I sincerely hope that the achievements left behind there by Coach Spurrier , forever etched in the schools record books will pave a new pathway to inspire future college stars to want to come and help push South Carolina to that next plateau that even he could not get them too. My Sports Mind says it can NOW happen, Because the job has now become a HIGH priority job where as before Spurrier arrived it was FAR from that.
So Gamecock fans, My Sports Mind says get ready for the next ride, It’s gonna get bumpy at first but things could smooth out quickly IF the Gamecocks get the right man, just ask the Wolverines 😉
So Whats On Your Sports Mind about this subject?
