WOYSM College Football Top 25 (Week #4)
Ohio St. remained the #1 team in the land for the 5th week (Including the preseason rankings), in fact the Top 5 Teams all remained the same from week #3. Notre Dame replaced Florida St. at #6 even though Florida St. was off this week Notre Dame seems to be playing better football at this time so the two teams were flip flopped.
Ole Miss, LSU and Alabama all stayed the same finishing out the Top 10, while Clemson, UCLA, Oklahoma and USC all moved up a notch after Oregon lost to Utah 62 to 20, Oregon 2-2-0 fell 14-slots all the way to #25.
Arizona and Missouri both lost and they slid from #16 and 17 to #20 and 21 respectively while Texas A&M, Wisconsin and Utah all moved up to #15 – 17.
Also moving up to #18 and 19 were Northwestern and Oklahoma St.
There was two new comers to the poll and one returnee. Stanford returned to the Top 25 moving back in at #23, while Iowa and California moved into the poll for the first time completing the Top 25. Stanford, Iowa and California were able to move into the rankings thanks to losses by Auburn, Tennessee and Georgia Tech who all fell from the Top 25..
This Is Whats On My Sports Mind about this subject:
It’s almost too easy for Ohio St. when you look at their remaining schedule the only Top 25 team they play is Michigan St. in week 12 and given the Buckeyes rather light schedule it could come back to haunt them in that week 12 matchup.
Now that Ohio St.has a four game lead on everyone else for the most weeks at #1 and taking their remaining schedule or at least the next 7-games should I go ahead and award them the trophy? My Sports Mind says not just yet BUT the fat lady IS beginning to warm up.
Congrats to MY Gamecocks and Coach Spurrier in their victory over Central Florida, NOT a powerhouse by any means but a win is indeed a win which got South Carolina back to .500. at 2-2-0. I understand that the Gamecocks aren’t even in the Others Receiving Votes category BUT they are MY team so just bear with me.
The number of teams per conference representing the WOYSM College Top 25 are as follows: SEC=6, Pac 12=6, Big 10=5, Big 12=4, ACC=2, Independents=1.
The SEC had eight teams in the poll last week before Auburn and Tennessee bailed while the Pac 12 gained one team (California) thus pulling in to a tie with what looks to be a NOT so mighty SEC as in recent history.
Why don’t Notre Dame go ahead and join the ACC and make it easier for all? OH My Sports Mind forgot, they make more $$$$ as an Independent. How many other teams could ever say that?
So Whats On Your Sports Mind about this subject? Do you agree with our Top 25? If not tell us who your College Top 25 teams are.
