Cowboys Talking With Sack Artist Greg Hardy.
In a move that could really pay HUGE dividends for the Cowboys defense. Former Panthers DE, Greg Hardy flew into Dallas early today and was in talks with the team thru out the day. Hardy also met with coaches and had dinner them and defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli and the two sides are to resume talks into the evening. It was also said that Seattle & Tampa Bay wants to talk to Hardy BUT no visits have been scheduled.
Hardy, who played only 1-game in 2014 after being placed on the commissioners exempt list due to a domestic violence charge that stemmed from a June, 2014 incident & was later dismissed in court in February. He could still face suspension from Commissioner Goodell when he signs with another team. Hardy had a career best 15-sacks in 2013 and has recorded 34 career sacks over 63 games played. Many place Greg Hardy in the same category as Former Lion and newly signed Dolphin NT, Ndamukong Suh. If the Cowboys should sign Hardy it would be a big addition to their front line, where the Cowboys currently have DeMarcus Lawrence & Jeremy Mincey currently slotted as the two starting DE’s and it would give a tremendous boost to a Cowboys defense that is in the rebuilding stage, but did show promise of heading in the right direction last season and signing Hardy, though on the opposite side of the ball would also help to makeup for the loss of RB, DeMarco Murray to the Philadelphia Eagles, who signed with the team last week. IF the Cowboys should sign Hardy, he would play the Right end position & DeMarcus Lawrence would be moved to the left side w/ Mincey playing the roving role. There’s NO guarantee that Hardy will be available come the start of the season, which is the BIG question. Who ever Hardy happens to sign with, will he be allowed to play with the team come September? One would have to think that since the case was dismissed against Hardy that he would be allowed to play & you certainly would have to think IF Hardy should be suspended by Goodell that he would have a logical reason to appeal, since Viking’s RB, Adrian Peterson was granted reinstatement after virtually NO punishment was handed down to Peterson in his child abuse case in 2014. Should Dallas sign Hardy considering the fact he might be suspended and if they do will it draw the kind of attention to the team that they do NOT need?
This Is Whats On My Sports Mind about this subject.
First off The Cowboys ARE going to sign Greg Hardy, The thing that tells me so is the fact that NO visits to Seattle OR Tampa have been scheduled, which means that the two sides are going to talk into the morning until they work out a deal, probably in the 50 mil. 5-year range. Also NICE move Coach Marinelli taking Hardy out to dinner with the coaches. So I predict by morning Hardy will be a Cowboy. This is a move the Cowboys have to make and they know it, in order to have adequate leadership on the defensive side of the ball. Something they gravely miss since the departure of DeMarcus Ware to Denver and it will give the Boys a pass rush they so DESPERATELY need. I’ll even go one step further and predict that Hardy, IF suspended or not will play next season, because should Goodell attempt to suspend him. I believe Hardy would win the appeal. Who knows perhaps adding RB, Darren McFadden to the team will work out as an adequate replacement to DeMarco Murray’s departure, especially with the Cowboys OL that was SO dominate against opposing defenses and if that works out, signing Hardy could be a HUGE bonus. As far as any negative attention it might bring to the team. My Sports Mind tells me that once Hardy has played a couple games and shown what he’s capable of, things WILL quieten down guaranteed 😉
